Child Protection Policy

EEO is committed to the highest standards of child protection. The welfare of every child is paramount. This policy is grounded in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Kenya's Children Act 2022, and EEO's commitment to safe, child-friendly programming.

• Child: any person under 18 years of age
• Child abuse: physical, sexual, emotional harm or neglect of a child
• Safe recruitment: background-checking all persons who work with children
• Child-safe environment: a space where risks to children are identified and actively minimised

All staff and volunteers working directly with children must:

• Undergo DCI police clearance — Certificate of Good Conduct
• Provide at least two verified professional references
• Sign EEO's Child Protection Code of Conduct before commencing
• Complete mandatory child protection training at induction

• All activities involving children must be supervised by at least two adults at all times
• Written parental or guardian consent required for all child participants
• No photography or filming of children without explicit written consent
• Children must never be alone with a single adult in a closed or private space
• All activities shall be age-appropriate and respect children's dignity and privacy

Any person who suspects or witnesses child abuse must report immediately to:
