Zawadi (15) was a quiet Grade 10 student at Ogilo Mixed Senior School who rarely spoke in class. She had no clear career goals and doubted her abilities, often letting others lead group work. Her teachers noticed her potential but saw that she lacked confidence and direction.

Through the Girls Mentorship and Leadership Project, Zawadi was paired with a trained female mentor who met with her regularly at school and during holidays. The mentor supported her with career guidance, study planning, goal-setting, and confidence-building activities. Zawadi also joined peer discussions where girls practiced speaking up and leading.

Over time, Zawadi began to raise her hand in class, volunteer to lead group tasks, and share her ideas with friends. She set clear academic goals and started preparing early for exams. Her teachers noted a marked change in her participation and self-belief.
