Growing up in Kamroth Village, Basaa South Location, Kevin spent much of his time drifting between idle days and negative influences. With few opportunities for meaningful engagement and limited positive role models around him, he struggled to find direction and purpose.

Everything began to change when he joined Educate and Empower Organization (EEO)’s sports-for-development activities and community football tournaments. Through these programs, Kevin became a member of Kakelo Football Club, where football was used as more than just a game. Coaches and mentors intentionally combined sports training with life-skills education, mentorship, leadership development, and lessons on teamwork, communication, discipline, and personal responsibility.

As Kevin’s involvement grew, so did his confidence and sense of purpose. The discipline he learned on the field began to shape his behavior off the field. He became more focused, committed, and respectful, earning the trust of both his teammates and coaches. Before long, he was helping to mentor younger players, encouraging them to stay in school, work hard, and avoid negative influences. He also took on leadership responsibilities within the team, demonstrating maturity and a willingness to serve others.

Today, Kevin sees himself differently. What was once a young man at risk of being left behind has become a motivated youth with aspirations for a brighter future. He now dreams of returning to school to complete his education while pursuing opportunities in competitive football. More importantly, he has embraced the idea that leadership starts with personal responsibility and positive choices.
